  • My brew has stopped fermenting, what do I do?
If your fermentation appears to have stopped and your hydrometer reading isn't where it should be yet, there can be a number of causes. The most common cause is temperature. If the temperature has become too cool at some point during the ferment, the yeast will go dormant and sink to the bottom until it is warmed up and 'encouraged' to get back to work. To remedy this, the use of a heat belt/wrap/pad can be enough to warm your brew back to the correct fermenting temperature along with a gentle stir to get the yeast off the bottom and encouraging them to start eating sugars again. If the temperature has become too hot at some point during the ferment, the yeast could potentially have been killed. To remedy this, repitch another packet of yeast. Another common cause for stuck fermentation is underpitching yeast. If not enough yeast is pitched at the start of the brew (e.g. only 1 packet of dry yeast to an ale with an OG above 1.048), they may not be up to the task of consuming all of the sugars. To remedy this, either repitch another packet of yeast or provide some yeast nutrient. If none of these options result in the brew fermenting again, please get in contact with us by either messaging us via the chat button, emailing us at info@bigbubble.com.au or contacting us via the contact form on our home page so that we can help you solve your problem.
  • How do I book a pool/spa service?
You can book a pool or spa service here.
  • Can I get my pool/spa water tested at Big Bubble?
Yes! We offer FREE pool and spa water testing and advice in-store.
  • How often should I test my pool/spa water?
We recommend that you come in-store to have your pool or spa water checked every 2 weeks during Summer and every 4 weeks in Winter. Home testing should be performed every 2 - 3 days ideally.
  • How long should I run my pool pump each day?
During Summer we recommend running your pump for 8 hours per day, split into two 4-hour runs, morning and afternoon (e.g. 7am - 11am and 2pm - 6pm). During Spring and Autumn we recommend running your pump for 6 hours per day, split into 3-hour runs, morning and afternoon (e.g 8am - 11am and 2pm - 5pm). During Winter we recommend running your pump for 4 hours per day, split into 2-hour runs, morning and afternoon (e.g 9am - 11am and 2pm - 4pm).
  • What steps should I take to prepare my pool for Winter?
Preparing your pool for Winter is an essential step that is quite often overlooked. This is important so that your water remains clear and well balanced ready for the following swimming season as well as protecting your pool and equipment from damage, saving you money! Step 1. Have your pool water tested in-store and balance accordingly. Step 2. Add the Big Bubble Winteriser solution to help reduce algae growth. Step 3. Ensure sure your pump is running atleast 4 hours per day, morning and afternoon (e.g. 9am -11am and 2pm - 4pm). Step 4. Have your pool water tested in-store monthly.
